Pet ownership has been steadily growing, and the industry of pet-related
products and services has grown 10 times since ages ago, yet little is known about the
factors affecting the consumer behavior of pet owners and its relationship to the
sociodemographic profile of those who consume pet-related goods and services in
terms of psychological, social, cultural, and personal factors.
The main study included a total of 168 pet owners in Barangay Molino 1 and 2
in Bacoor City, Cavite, through cluster sampling. Whereas people in Generation Z
who are single and were born between 1997 and 2012, ranging in age from 18 to 25
years old, are high school graduates who have $10,000 or less as a monthly income
and are capable of purchasing the best and most trustworthy goods and services for
themselves and their pets at grocery stores.
With this study's findings, age has a significant relationship with consumer
buying behavior in terms of cultural factors, while educational attainment and monthly
income have an impact in terms of cultural and social factors. On the other hand,
marital status and consumers' preferred retail outlets have no significant relationship
with any factors of consumer behavior.
In order to ensure that product and services offerings for pets are customized
to meet the needs and expectation of pet owners, the contribution of this research’s
finding are discussed in light in recent consumer studies literature.
