This study aims to determine Lived Experience of Informal Settlers of Tabon 3
Elias Aldana Las Pinas City and what are the lived experience of Informal settlers of
Tabon 3 Elias Aldana Las Piñas city in terms of: Financial, Basic Needs and Health. As
well as what are the problems/challenges encountered by Informal Settlers of Tabon 3 in
terms of: Financial, Basic Needs and Health. In order to know what are the coping
mechanisms adopted by the informal settlers to address the problem they encounter.
This research employed a qualitative research method; specifically, the descriptive
phenomenology approach in which, this approach aims to know the participant accounts to
describe a phenomenon or occurrence in order to better comprehend it. In line with this the
researchers can appropriately determine the Lived Experience, problem encounter and the
coping mechanism of Informal Settlers in Tabon 3 Elias Aldana Las Pinas City. The main
participants of this study were the residents of Tabon 3 Elias Aldana who lives in informal
settlement and these participants agreed in gathering information. In this study, the
researchers used the Purposive sampling technique, in selecting the participants based on
their specific characteristics or perspective to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the
gathered information. The instruments used in this study was reviewed by the thesis adviser
before gathering the data. According to the findings, the participants have a common lived
experienced in informal settlements, they experienced difficulty to earn money, they are
anxious in temporary housing, they have no permanent source of income, tapping, fetching
water from afar and experienced common health issues (Cough, Cold, Flu, High Blood,
Diarrhea and Asthma). The result also shows that the participants used and applied various
coping mechanisms with their financial aspect, basic needs aspect and health aspect just to
survive their daily life. Thus, the researchers recommend to join and participate in various
programs and assistance of the government that will surely help them in their everyday life.
