Abstract

2023 to January 2024. It aimed to determine the perspectives of undergraduates on
the social media profiles of companies when looking for a suitable job and the

correctional method to examine how closely the variables were related to each other.
The study’s participants were 105 undergraduate students from Cavite State
University – Bacoor City Campus.
Results showed that 80 percent of the participants were females, and 20
percent were males. The majority of the participants were in their third year (53.33%)
and 46.67 percent were in their fourth year. Majority were unemployed (60%).
Twenty percent of them have part-time jobs and another Twenty percent are working
full-time. Undergraduates spend an average of 2–4 hours on social media per day.
The most frequently used platforms to look for a suitable job are Facebook, followed
by LinkedIn, YouTube, and Twitter.
Social media platforms are now essential tools for networking, information
sharing, and personal branding in today's digital world. The findings showed

undergraduates frequently search the company's social media profiles for insight into
how the business wants itself to be perceived. On the reliability of the online job
search on social media platforms, undergraduate students' strong agreement with
the frequency of email notifications. Based on the results, the way that
undergraduates view company social media profiles and how confident they are
about the reliability of using these platforms for job searches varies significantly.
While responses on company social media profiles are more subjective and
influenced by branding and image, undergraduates seeking a career may discover
that the reliability of online job searches on social media is a more useful and
advantageous part.
To find a job online, researchers encourage the use of industry-specific
hashtags to find relevant job opportunities and connect with professionals. This will
allow them to have a better chance of finding a job that suits them. In addition,
applicants must start building a professional online presence on different social
media platforms if they want to create an impactful presence. This can serve as their
digital portfolio that showcases their skills, experience, and achievements.
Description
This undergraduate thesis explores how third- and fourth-year students at Cavite State University – Bacoor City Campus perceive the use of social media in job searching. Conducted from July 2023 to January 2024, the study examines how students assess company social media profiles and the perceived reliability of social media platforms in the online job search process. Using descriptive and correlational research methods with 105 respondents, the study identifies Facebook and LinkedIn as the most used platforms for job searches. Findings highlight that while branding and company image on social media influence student perceptions, platform reliability (e.g., email notifications and job posting legitimacy) plays a more practical role in job-seeking behavior. Recommendations include building a professional online presence and utilizing targeted hashtags to enhance job search effectiveness.
