Abstract
The study aimed to develop a search engine system for Cavite State University – Bacoor Campus. The software was designed to benefit students, instructors, and administrators by providing an efficient means of managing and accessing academic information. The system enables administrators to organize and update student thesis records while allowing users to search, view, and retrieve relevant data. It also provides separate user accounts for students, instructors, and guests to ensure secure access.
The Rational Unified Process (RUP) Model served as the development methodology, consisting of four key phases: Inception, Elaboration, Construction, and Transition. Various development tools were utilized, including Adobe Fireworks CS3 for system design, Visual Basic 6.0 for client-side coding, and MySQL Server 2005 for database management and data storage.
The system was evaluated based on five major criteria: functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, and maintainability. Evaluations were conducted among third year and fourth year students, as well as instructors. Results indicated that the system effectively met the users’ needs and demonstrated satisfactory performance in all evaluation areas.
