Abstract
This study was conducted to assess the preferences and level of satisfaction on cellular phone service providers among Local Government Unit(LGU) employees in Bacoor, Cavite. Specifically, it aimed to describe the socio-economic characteristics of the subscribers, determine the attributes that subscriber prefers in choosing CPSP, determine their satisfaction level and identify the problems they encountered with their service providers. The study also aimed to find out the relationship between the socio-economic characteristics of the subscribers and their preferences, and the relationship between cellular phone service providers and the level of satisfaction of the subscribers.
The study involved seventy-seven (77) respondents selected through purposive sampling. The respondents of the study came from the sixteen municipal departments of the Local Government Unit of Bacoor. Descriptive design was employed through survey approach. Descriptive statistical tools such as frequency count, percentage, weighted mean and ranking were used to describe the socio-economic characteristics of the subscribers, determine the attributes that subscriber prefers in choosing cellular phone service providers, determine their satisfaction level and identify the problems they encountered with their service providers. Chi-square test were used to find out the relationship between the socio-economic characteristics of the subscribers and their preferences on cellular phone providers while one-way ANNOVA test was used to find out the relationship between cellular phone service providers and the level of satisfaction of the subscribers.
Result showed that the highest number (35.06%) of the subscribers was in the middle age bracket of 39 to 45 with an average of 41 years. Majority of the respondents (54.55%) were females and married receiving an income ranging from Php 10,000 to Php 15, 000 per month. The average monthly income of the respondents was Php 15,423.00.
Further, the study revealed that majority of the subscribers ( 57.14%) preferred Smart as their service provider. They have subscribed with their service providers for four to six years with an average of five years and almost all of them (88.31%) were availing prepaid connection. Text messaging ranked as the number one purpose of the subscribers. Family was the most influencing factor which induced them to use a particular service provider. Network coverage was the most important factor considered by the subscribers while lower price/s was their main reason for choosing their cellular phone service providers.
Among the variables subjected to Chi-square test, only monthly income of the subscribers was found significantly related to their preferred service provider while civil status and monthly income were found significantly related to their preferred type of connection. In the case of the level of satisfaction of the subscribers as related to the cellular phone service providers, by applying one-way ANNOVA test, no significant relationship was found.
Receiving delayed messages and call dropping/cutting were the most common problems encountered by the subscribers with their cellular phone service providers.
