Abstract
This study, titled “E-Recruitment: Challenges Faced by Newly Hired
Employees,” was done in the city of Bacoor Cavite from February 2022 to January
2023. This was presented in order to understand how e-recruitment affects job seekers
during the job search process. This study was intended to evaluate the impact of E-
recruitment on job search, identify the challenges faced by newly hired employees
(Impersonal, Outdated Job Postings, Website Malfunction, No response from the
company), and comprehend how newly hired employees dealt with the difficulties in
the e-recruitment process.
The researchers used phenomenology and a qualitative descriptive study
approach to describe the meaning of experiences for each individual. The 20 recently
hired employees living in Bacoor City, Cavite, who were purposefully chosen based on
the criterion, were interviewed using self-made interview questioners. Because this
study’s methodological approach was qualitative, the researchers employed Thematic
Analysis, a non-statistical method for describing data as well as for interpretation in the
process of selecting codes and generating themes. Also, the respondents gave full
permission to use their data, but the researchers made sure to observe the Data
Privacy Act (R.A. No. 10173).
The results reveal that website malfunctions greatly hampered job searchers
during e-recruitment. According to the collected data, the majority of respondents
reported website failure and internet connection issues throughout the e-recruitment
process. Some claimed that viewing a company’s website link was difficult due to
internet connection failure. Others stated that receiving a response from the employer
and applying to outdated job postings were other challenges throughout the job search
process. One respondent stated that the impersonal nature of e-recruitment was also
a barrier for him.
Therefore, there were numerous problems that hinder job seekers’ job-hunting
processes. The researchers advised HR practitioners and management to improve
their website system and e-recruitment tools by implementing alternative strategies to
improve website linkages. Including a backup plan in every company’s recruitment
method is a wise way to cut costs and avoid complications. Setting a timeframe for
each job posting would also aid job hunters. This study would assist job seekers in
identifying issues in e-recruitment that could be beneficial to them so that they could
be prepared to face such problems. Last, more research is needed to determine the
e-recruitment issues that job searchers would face without constraint. Due to limited
information and previously presented issues from another study, this qualitative
research was unable to provide complete knowledge and was insufficient to answer
job seekers’ concerns about e-recruitment challenges.
