Abstract
ALDAVE, JHON EDWARD S., DADAP, TENNEE D., and ESPIRITU, ARCHIE JAY
C. Web-Based Library Management System for Holy Redeemer School with the
use of a Barcode and Email Notification. Undergraduate Capstone Project.
Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. Cavite State University, Bacoor
Campus, Bacoor City, Cavite. January 2024. Adviser: Ms. Alvina E. Ramallosa.
The study was conducted from March 2023 to December 2023 at Holy
Redeemer School. The study aimed to (1) design a Library Management System that
provides an efficient library transaction for each system module, shows the accurate
fine calculation for penalties, and eases the librarian's workload in creating
transaction reports of the library; (2) develop the system using visual studio code as
IDE for web development; HTML, CSS and JavaScript for system design and
scripting; PHP for the programming language; MySQL for storing and retrieving data;
and WAMPP as the server of the database; (3) test the system using Unit Testing,
Integration Testing, and Test Cases; (4) evaluate the performance of the system
based on ISO 25010; and (5) prepare an implementation plan for the deployment of
the web-based library management system.
The researcher used the Iterative Development Methodology. The web-based
system was designed and developed using PHP as the programming language and
MySQL as the database. CSS is for the design and graphical user interface, and
JavaScript is for the scripting side of the system. Furthermore, the web-based system
was evaluated by 164 individuals, comprising 129 students, 25 staff members, and
10 IT professionals, using the ISO 25010 standards.
The results yield a 4.29 mean rating, which has an equivalent descriptive
rating of "Excellent." This proves that the web-based system can be useful to the end
users who want to use the library. In essence, the "Web Based Library Management
System" is a valuable addition to the academic environment, contributing to the
modernization and efficiency of library operations while enhancing the overall
experience for both librarians and students. Lastly, for the better enhancement of the
system, the researchers recommend developing a mobile application for the library
system to give students a more comprehensive user experience.
