Abstract

This study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of business strategies that affect the customer preference of Ukay-Ukay in Tagaytay City. Specifically, the study aimed to describe the socio-economic profile of the respondents; determine the factors that affect the customer preference of Ukay-Ukay; to know the effect of business strategy to customer preference; and the significant relationship between socio-economic profile of the respondents and the factor of business of Ukay-Ukay. The study also aimed to find out the significant relationship between factors of the business and the effect of the business strategy to customer preference.
The study involved 200 respondents selected through quota sampling. The respondents came from four selected Barangays within Tagaytay area. The descriptive design was employed by the researchers through a survey approach. Statistical tools such as frequency count, percentage, weighted mean, and ranking were used to describe the socio-economic profile of the respondents, determine the factors that affect customer preference and the effect of business strategy to customer preference. Chi-square test was used to find out the relationship of socio-economic profile of respondents and factors of the business. To find out the relationship between factors of the business and the effect of the business strategy to customer preference, coefficient was used.
Results showed that the highest number, 32%, of the respondents was at the age bracket of 28-37 years old while the average number of respondents were 33 years old. More than half of the respondents or sixty four percent 64% were female and received an income ranging from Php 5,000.00 and below per month.
All Ukay-Ukay stores offered various products to gain profit. 100% of which offered clothes. In the case of the effectiveness of business strategy to customer preference, the customers were satisfied.
Poor ventilation was the most common problem encountered by the customers of the Ulay-Ukay stores in the City of Tagaytay.
