Hospital Information and Billing System of E. Zarate Hospital.Undergraduate
Thesis.Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. Cavite State University -
Bacoor City Campus, Cavite. June 2019. Adviser: Mr. Roneson Angelo S. Abug.
This study was conducted to develop Hospital Information and Billing System
of E. Zarate Hospital. The software was developed for the benefit of both staff and
other employees of E. Zarate Hospital in making hospital transactions such as
records, billing and reports be easier and faster.
Iterative waterfall Methodology was used as the development methodology of
the software. It has six processes: requirement analysis, system design,
implementation and coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
The system was developed through the use of different tools: Vb.Net as the
programming language and My SQL Workbench 8.0 as database.
The system was evaluated using ISO 9126, based on the given criteria:
Functionality, Reliability, Usability, Efficiency and Portability. Evaluation was
composed of IT instructors, Nurses/Staff and Guardians/Patient. The overall rating of
the system is 4.70 which are interpreted as “Excellent”. All the given criteria of the
evaluation and targeted features and functionality of the system as well as the
requirements and objectives were met.
The findings of the study have brought out these recommendations which can
help the system for its future use and development. It was recommended by the
evaluators that the system add a notification through SMS that will be able to inform
the doctors and the nurses of their respective schedules, improve the generation of
reports by adding charts or graphs so the user can easily analyze the statistical data
given by the system, and may be able to have an inventory of pharmacy’s stock of
medicines.

Description
This undergraduate thesis aimed to develop a Hospital Information and Billing System for E. Zarate Hospital to streamline hospital transactions such as record management, billing, and report generation. The project sought to improve efficiency and accuracy in handling hospital data for both staff and administrative personnel. Developed using VB.Net as the programming language and MySQL Workbench 8.0 for database management, the system followed the Iterative Waterfall Methodology, consisting of six phases: requirement analysis, system design, implementation and coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
Evaluation using the ISO 9126 software quality model assessed the system in terms of functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, and portability. Respondents included IT instructors, nurses, staff, and patients/guardians. The system achieved an overall rating of 4.70 (“Excellent”), confirming its effectiveness and user satisfaction. Recommendations for future enhancement included adding SMS notifications for medical schedules, visual data analytics for reports, and a pharmacy inventory management feature.
