Abstract
Gender equality in the workplace refers to female and male employees being treated equally and having equal access to opportunities and business resources. This involves offering equitable pay, promotion, decision-making, and training and development opportunities to all employees. In today’s business scenario, women and men are still entering a diverse world to work in. Men and women have never been on the same page when it comes to working. Stereotype and traditional roles in the family and society emphasize the differences rather than the similarities between men and women.
This study aimed to identify workplace gender equality in terms of the pay gap, promotion, decision-making, and training and development based on SM Bacoor employees’ perceptions. This study also examined the differences in employees’ perspective when respondents are grouped according to their demographic profiles and to determine if there is a significant difference between male and female employees’ perspective toward gender equality in the workplace. The descriptive design and stratified random sampling technique are adopted in this study.
A survey questionnaire is administered to ninety-nine (99) SM Bacoor City employees where 55 percent are males and 44 percent are females, high school graduates consist of 59 percent while college graduates consist of 40 percent Probationary employees are 41 percent and 58 percent are regular/permanent employees. Two hypotheses are raised and tested using t-test. The overall result of the study revealed a moderate satisfaction toward gender equality at SM Bacoor City. It appears that there is still much work to be done in the workplace to close the gender gap. Therefore, it is recommended to continue promoting gender equality in the workplace. SM Bacoor City should offer more financial recognition regardless of the employee’s sex based on their level of performance. Offer the same chance of promotion for employees from all backgrounds. SM Bacoor City should encourage men and women to participate in the decision-making process in the organization. SM Bacoor City should give men and women an opportunity to decide what training programs they should take.
