Abstract
Job seekers today have found different ways for them to land in a job. Anytime
and anywhere, they could now look for a job based on their preferences. One of the
ways is to take advantages of the improved and advanced technology that are now
existing, especially the use of social media. Job seekers now can use social media for
their job searching journey. The study was conducted to determine the challenges of
using social media platforms when looking and applying for a job posted, also their
coping strategy with this manner.
Result showed that most of the respondents, aged 23 years old had the highest
percentage who participated in the interview conducted by the researchers. Male had
the highest percentage of respondents who participated in the interview while the
female had the lowest percentage. Results also showed that the distribution of
respondents in terms of social media plat forms usually used, Facebook was the social
media platform that enables the participants to be employed. They were very familiar
with how Facebook works in their job searching journey. With regard to challenges
encountered from the respondents during job search on social media, the data
revealed that most posted job opportunities in social media was scam.
The researchers recommended that regardless of the challenges, job seekers
must continue using it and be even smarter with this. Further, in terms of effect of social
media to the respondents, most of them agreed that it was efficient and convenient
from them and would recommend to use social media when applying for a job online.
