Abstract
The approved study was conducted to determine the perception of Barangay
Zapote towards law enforcement through social media, identify the problems
encountered by the law enforcement in dealing with the negative perception of
respondents through social media, determine the coping mechanisms to address the
problems encountered by the law enforcement, and establish recommendations of
solutions on the addressed problems of the law enforcement through social media.
In order to find out the recommendation and methods which could help the
researchers to identify the problems encountered by the law enforcement through
social media, the qualitative, descriptive research design was used in the study, and
interview-guide questionnaires and unstructured interviews as a data-gathering
instruments to identify the problems were also used. The researchers utilized the
purposive sampling which researchers rely on their own judgment when choosing
members of the population to participate in their surveys.
The results of the study which focused at how the respondents perceived law enforcement on social media, revealed that the residents of barangay Zapote 1 and police officers themselves are satisfied with the responses from the community. The study also showed that both residents and the police officers agreed on the identified problems encountered by the law enforcement and the coping mechanism used in addressing the problems encountered by law enforcement through social media.
Lastly, the residents and police officers of Bacoor, Cavite have agreed that improvements in law enforcement's use of social media for public information, proper performance of obligations, and good relationships between the PNP and community where trust was built in are the recommendations to address the problems encountered by the law enforcement through social media.
