Abstract

forecasting feature for Hartman E. Gonzales Customs Brokerage. The company
faced challenges in keeping up with modern technology and used manual methods
in processing financial tasks. The specific problems include the risk of errors and
miscalculations, decentralized accounting, difficulty in tracking reports and various
records, and the possibility of file corruption and loss. The study would identify those
problems, analyzed the advantages of computerized financial accounting and
forecasting compared to the manual method, and designed a framework to develop
a functional computerized system using the 4GT. The system would minimize time-
consuming complex data inputs, data loss and redundancy risks. The goal was to
improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the company's financial operations to
help the company make smart business decisions and still remain competitive
The 4GT Fourth Generation Technique was used as the development
methodology of the system. It has four phases: Requirements Gathering, Design
Strategy, Implementation using 4GL (Fourth Generation Language), and Testing,
allowing the software engineer to specify characteristics of the system.
Various coding and development tools were used to build the system
modules: MySQL 5.0.37 was utilized for the system database with Xampp web
server version 3.3.0 and Microsoft Word and Excel 2021 for the digestion and
documentation of the study.
The functions and features of the system were developed with the PHP
programming language version 8.2. thru V.S. Code version 1.78. cPanel version 112
was used as the web hosting control panel software. Google and other online sites
were also used in gathering various information with relation to the development of
the system, it includes Google Scholar, Research Gate and JSTOR. Draw.io
software version 21.3.7 was used to design the diagrams used such as the
framework of the study. Adobe Photoshop version 24.3.0 was also used to design
figures and infographics.
The system was evaluated by 7 Hartman E. Gonzales Customs Brokerage
employees, 3 Hartman E. Gonzales Customs Brokerage managers and supervisors,
and 11 I.T. Professionals. The results of the system evaluation showed that overall,
the evaluators were very satisfied with the Computerized Financial Accounting and
Revenue Forecasting System for Hartman E. Gonzales Customs Brokerage. The
system received a total rating of 3.98, indicating a very satisfactory evaluation. The
result of the evaluation proved that the system was ready to be utilized in managing
various accounting transactions of the Hartman E. Gonzales Customs Brokerage. It
also implied that the system meets the necessary requirements of an operational
accounting system for Hartman E. Gonzales Customs Brokerage as shown by the
very satisfactory remarks of each evaluation criterion. The study concluded with a
recommendation that the system should be applicable to other businesses related
to brokerage with different accounting method, and should project a more accurate
forecast outcome by implementing other variations of the forecasting method.
