Abstract
The study on Web-based Student Portal with Grades Notifications via Short
Message Service for Asian Institute of Science and Technology Dasmarinas City
Campus was conducted to provide a Web-based Student Portal that would make
lessen the problem of the students particular in accessing their grades, class schedule,
and school updates. This study would be beneficial for the client in terms of improving
the easy accessibility of student’s information, notifying student of their grades and
updating them on the announcements of the school. The system would reduce the
amount of labor and time required to collect data for the student portal. It would also
save time for students because they would not have to go to the registrar, accounting,
or bulletin boards.
The researchers used the Hybrid Disciplined Agile Model as a methodology in
the development of the system. Hybrid Disciplined Agile Model consists of the following
phases: Inception Phase, Planning Phase, Iterative Assessment Phase Production
Phase, Closure.
The proposed system was developed using ReactJS v18.2.0, TailwindCSS
v3.1.8, MaterialUI v5.10.2, ViteJS v2.1.0 for frontend, Redux/Toolkit v1.8.3 for state
management, Node Package Manager v8.7.0 for package management, Postman v9
for API testing, JEST v29.3.1 to ensure the correctness of the system codebase, PHP
v8.1.5 as a backend programming language, MySQL v8.1.5 for the database, Apache
v2.4.53 (Win64) for web server, Heroku v7.39.0, Netlify v12.7.0 for Frontend hosting,
Cloudinary v1.33.0 for Files hosting, Canva v2.0 for visual infographics and
customized user interfaces. GitHub v3.4 for group collaboration and deployment,
Microsoft Office Word 2019 for documentation of the study.
In order to obtain an evaluation response, the researchers conducted an
evaluation to 100 Asian Institute of Science and Technology Dasmarinas (AISAT)
students, AISAT faculty members, 10 I.T Instructors or I.T professionals. The system
obtained a grand mean of 4.22, which had an equivalent interpretation of being
excellent. This means that the participants believed that the software highly met and
far exceeded its expectations. The highest weighted mean value was observed in
perceivable, which gathered a mean value of 4.44. On the other hand, the lowest mean
value was perceived in the robust which gathered a mean value of 4.02. Theoretically,
the researchers concluded that the participants agreed that the software was excellent.
The researchers recommended to add feature that would let students
message or interact with the registrar via chatbot, adding an interactive graph to show
the grade curve of the student to identify which subject a student needs improvement,
and add a school calendar that has all the events of the school posted for the student
to track.
