Abstract
This study focused on the impact of TikTok on the academic performance of senior high school students at St. Matthew Academy of Cavite during the school year 2024–2025. One hundred (100) senior high school students were chosen in random and given a survey questionnaire as part of the study's descriptive quantitative design. Based on the findings, TikTok presented significant challenges for students' academic performance even though it might help with learning through instructional content and encouraging creativity. The survey found that students were aware of both the benefits and negative aspects of TikTok. The majority of students expressed concerns about time management issues, diversions, and the potential for exposure to misleading information, even while they acknowledged that TikTok might help them learn new content and enhance their educational experience. The study concluded that while TikTok may be a useful learning tool, students should be aware of any potential drawbacks. In particular, the issues faced by senior high school students using the app are particularly significant, students find it difficult to focus on assignments that require prolonged attention and effort after spending time on TikTok; students struggle to manage time effectively because they spend too much time scrolling through TikTok, leaving less time for studies. The survey also highlighted how challenging for students to maintain balance between TikTok's instructional benefit and its entertainment value. In order to mitigate the negative impacts of TikTok and encourage responsible and balanced use of the app, the researcher recommend that educators and students implement policies. This includes encouraging media literacy, increasing classroom participation, and assisting with time management techniques.
