Information System for Springville Gardens 2. Undergraduate Capstone Project.
Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. Cavite State University, Bacoor City
Cavite. January 2025. Adviser: Ms. Steffanie M. Bato, MIT.

Homeowners Associations (HOAs) are essential in ensuring organized
community governance, yet many continue to face inefficiencies in administrative
processes and communication. Springville Gardens 2, a residential community in
Bacoor, Cavite, encountered challenges such as delayed information dissemination,
low homeowner engagement, and difficulty in handling transactions and maintenance
concerns.
The capstone project developed a Management Information System (MIS) for
Springville Gardens 2 to address these issues. The system was built using Python,
Django, and PostgreSQL, with Visual Studio Code as the main development
environment and Tailwind CSS for UI responsiveness. User requirements were
collected through surveys and interviews with homeowners and HOA officials. The
Agile development methodology guided the iterative development process. System
evaluation was conducted based on ISO 25010 standards to ensure quality attributes
were met.
The developed system included features such as resident information
management, transaction processing, service request handling, and access to financial
reports. The evaluation phase showed a high satisfaction rating, with a weighted mean
of 3.96, categorized as “Very Good” in performance, usability, and scalability.
The system successfully resolved the HOA’s administrative and engagement
challenges by optimizing processes and offering a centralized digital platform.
Recommendations include integrating SMS notifications for important announcements
and allowing real-time messaging between homeowners and officers to enhance
community interaction and responsiveness.
Description
This undergraduate capstone project focuses on the design and development of a web-based Management Information System (MIS) tailored for Springville Gardens 2 Homeowners Association. The system was designed to address challenges in managing member records, dues collection, announcements, and reporting by providing a centralized and automated digital platform. Utilizing web technologies such as PHP, Laravel, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, the project aimed to improve efficiency, transparency, and accessibility of homeowners’ association services. The system is expected to streamline administrative processes, ensure secure data handling, and enhance communication between association officers and members.
