This study was conducted from September 2021 – June 2022. Also, this was conducted to determine the level of awareness of Barangay Tanod on their duties and performance in crime prevention; Identify the factors affecting the duties and performance of Barangay Tanod in Crime Prevention in Talon Singko, Las Pinas City; Determine the significant difference between the responses of the respondents on duties and performance; and factors affecting the duties and performance of barangay Tanod in crime prevention; and to establish proposed enhancement program to address the result of the study based on the gathered problems.
In order to find out the recommendation and methods which could help the researcher to identified factors affecting the duties and performance of Barangay Tanod. The qualitive, descriptive research design was used in the study and questionnaires and unstructured interviews as a data-gathering instrument to identify the factors and problems. The community had 50 Barangay Officials and 50 residents as the participant in the study prevention, also the factors affecting the duties and performance of Barangay Tanod in crime prevention. The results of the study determine the level of awareness of the duties and performance of Barangay Tanods shows that the residents and the Barangay Tanod itself are aware of the duties and performance in crime prevention. The study also resulted that both of the residents and the Barangay Tanod agreed on identified problems or areas to be considered that need to be addressed to continue performing their duties and performance in crime prevention. Such as, the lack of cooperation among the residents in addressing community problems, next is the lack of vehicle when conducting patrol, insufficient budget support and the lack of food supplies especially when on night duty are the main factors affecting the duties and performance of Barangay Tanod in the study. Another is based on data and analysis from the responses of the respondents’ awareness on the duties and performance of Barangay Tanod in crime prevention has a significant difference. The residents have other ideas on the duties and performance of the barangay tanod, compared to the Barangay Tanod
themselves in crime prevention.
Lastly, An enhancement program is proposed based on the identified problems and issues that need to be addressed to maintain and sustain duties and performance of the Barangay Tanod in crime prevention.
