FOOD VENDORS IN BAHAYANG PAG-ASA MOLINO V BACOOR CITY CAVITE

The study was conducted to identify the food safety practices of street food
vendors in Bahayang Pag-asa, Molino V, Bacoor City, Cavite. A total of 28 street
food vendors were chosen for a survey to collect data on food safety practices.
The study shows that in terms of food preparation water and raw materials
have a perfect general weighted mean (4.00) which means that they check and throw
away food beyond its expiration date and they are washing raw ingredients before
using them. It is followed by cleaning with a general weighted mean of (3.97),
cooking with a general weighted mean of (3.90), temperature with a general
weighted mean of (3.81), and lastly temperature with a general weighted mean of
3.70. All these indicators show a verbal interpretation of “Always” which means that
they are regularly applying food safety practices in food preparation.
In wearing personal protective equipment, wearing a facemask has the
highest general weighted mean of 3.77, and street food vendors always practice it.
It is followed by wearing a hairnet with a general weighted mean of 2.68, wearing
gloves with a general weighted mean of 2.56, and lastly wearing an apron with the
lowest general weighted mean of 2.52 showing that it only practices sometimes” by
street food vendors. The study also shows that street vendors are very
knowledgeable about food safety practices with a general weighted mean of 3.92.
