Abstract
DAVID MOISES S. BALLESTEROS and RONALYN R. TOLOSA. The Financial
Management among the Criminology Students of Cavite State University Bacoor City
Campus. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Criminology. Cavite State
University- Bacoor City Campus, City of Bacoor, Cavite. August 2024. Adviser: Mr.
Murven Abiadew.

Financial management is a critical skill for students, particularly in higher
education, where financial stress can significantly impact academic performance. The
objective of this study is to analyze the methods used by criminology students at Cavite
State University's Bacoor City Campus to manage their finances and to identify the
difficulties they experience. Interviews with criminology students were conducted using a
qualitative research methodology. While interviews gave more in-depth information about
students' experiences and coping processes, the survey evaluated financial management
techniques, obstacles, and coping mechanisms. The results showed that most students look
for part-time work and rely on parental help to pay for their studies. Typical obstacles
included stressing over the cost of education, having trouble making a budget, and having
restricted access to financial resources. The academic performance of the students was
found to be positively impacted by the coping mechanisms they employed, which included
budgeting, saving, and obtaining financial help. The study shows how important effective
methods of financial management are to helping criminology students succeed
academically. It emphasizes how important it is for educational institutions to put in place
financial literacy initiatives and support systems so that students may effectively manage
their financial difficulties. It is recommended that future studies concentrate on
longitudinal studies in order to evaluate the long-term effects of money management on
students' academic paths.
